MySQL Problems

I don't know how many times I have installed MySQL on other linux and mac osx boxes and have never had too much problem, but I try to compile MySQL for OS X Server and it compiles fine just when I got to start it this is the message that I get:

root# safe_mysqld &
[1] 448
root# Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/database/mysql
010830 07:18:30 mysqld ended

So it ends right after it stops, can someone please help.

i went and looked at the error files and found that it had no mysql.host so I installed the install_mysql_db and had to use the --force and now everything works, I hope my folly may help someone in the future
