MYSQL / Web Sharing / HELP please

Hi,

mysql / php newbie -trying to learn. That said:

Installed mysql 4.1 and php 5 (GPB 10.3.9). Didn't work when I tried to connect to mysql. Dragged php and mysql to trash. Noticed that I wasn't able to start web sharing -it would just hang. Reinstalled php and mysql, web sharing now starts, but goes back off if I restart (but not if I log out). I also can't get to my mysql db.

Anyone, please help?

They changed the connection interface in MySQL 4.1, use PHP5's "mysqli" commands instead of the old "mysql", i.e. "mysqli_connect" instead of "mysql_connect".

Check the mysql manual on how to reset your root password, and follow the instructions and you should be fine from there:
