Need a CD-R/RW DVD-R/RW for a G3 B&W

I am trying to find a CD/DVD burner for my fathers G3 B&W. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good burner? Will any firewire burner work? His is a totally stock G3 B&W 400 (rev2) with the optional zip 100 in it. I think the OS is 9.1. Thanks
