Hey guys,

Let me thank anyone with some info here in advance for taking time to read my thread. I ran into the forum here as I was trying to search for the fix to my problem here.

I have an Imac intel that is about 1 year old. It's the 24 inch imac.

For about the last month I have experienced a slow down in performance. Programs loaded slow, itunes would freeze, along with finder occasionally and so on. Some times the only way to resolve the software crashes was to reboot.

Yesterday, I left my mac on over night and I return to find a frozen cursor and a non responsive keyboard.

Only way to restart was to hold down the power button. So I did. After this I can not get past the gray apple log on start up. I am unable to boot from cd or anyting. It seems unresponsive to keyboard. I tried holding C down and the apple just stays on the white screen, no other sign of life.

Is this a hardware failure? It seems to me that if it wasn't I would be able to at least boot from Osx CD. I can't!

I tried replacing the memory with the sticks from my other imac that I bought around the same time just the 19inch.

The problem persists.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Apple support wants to charge me just to evaluate the computer, not even to fix it. It should still be under warranty, but these guys want to charge to troubleshoot it before they can send out a repair order! Last time I had a problem with my HP laptop, they helped me and when there was no fix they had it picked up. Apple wants ME to pay to troubleshoot a system that doesn't work! A system that is under warranty! Reason being is that they only offer 90 days of phone support. After that you have to pay. HEEELP!!
