I'm the proud owner of the new iMac. On it I have installed Toast Ti. (5.1.2). Now I would like to make an audio CD with Toast but I have a little trouble. This is what I do:

1. Open Toast
2. Insert audio CD
3. Click on audio in Toast
4. Move audio CD icon to Toast
5. Insert a blank CD-R
6. Press record

After I have done this it spits out the blank cd-r and tells me to insert a blank one??? Do I need to format a blank cd-r before it can be used (I have little experience with cd burning)?
I have checked roxio's homepage to see if Toast supports my cd-rw drive, and to my surprise...it didn't. I can burn data in Toast but not audio cd's.
Btw it's a Sony CD-RW CRX170E in my iMac.

Does anybody else have this problem???

Am I doing something wrong.

I haven't used Toast in a year, but here goes.
The Audio CD option is to copy CDs I think. You insert a Music CD and press Audie, then you can switch between several audio CDs and add a track from each. Then you press something like DONE and you're asked to inserteach CD in a speciffic order.

OS X or 9???

You have only one drive in/on the iMac???
In OS X drag the songs of the AudioCD to the desktop. THIS ONLY WORKS IN OS X!!! Then drag those things to toast BurnAudioCD.

If you have 2 drives connected just make a volume copy!

Have fun burning!

best wishes,
Alex

I use Toast in OS X and I only have one CD-RW in it. I don't think you can have two drives in a new iMac. Unless you are thinking about an external burner.

also, about your order - roxio has reccommended hitting record and then inserting the blank cdr when prompted. Having 2 drives i have never had to copy to drive or make a disc image. If you are really doing some serious burning you might want to consider getting a second external drive. Just be sure you get one who's read speed will keep up with the write speed of the imac.

It's better to make a Disk Image first and then burn that to CD. It will save a lot of buffer underuns and other read/write errors.

Thanks for the answers...but what I really want to do is avoid making a disk image. It takes too much time to do this, I think.

I just looked in Toast's help menu and it says that you can burn an audio cd without making a disk image. I've tried this and it keeps saying "put in a blank cd-r"?

Has anyone with a new iMac experienced this also? Could it be because roxio doesn't support the cd-rw in the new iMac's?

To burn an audio CD, you just select Audio CD, and drag some mp3 tracks over in the order you wish to have them. Then put in a blank CD-R and burn. This will convert the mp3s into regular Audio Tracks.
