Need Help Resizing Photo

Greetings~
New to this site & forum. I am a novice at editing photos. Spent most of the afternoon trying to resize a photo for a FOID card. OMG, I finally got the picture down to what appeared the proper dimensions using Imagerie, but I cant get it to print out that size. I need the photo to be 1.5 x 1.25"......Is there a simple way to do this and with what program....too tired to try any longer, need help please.:confused:

What's your system software? I use Preview for resizing. Tools menu. But that has only been an option for a few years. If system is old, you may not have it.
 
Thanks for the suggestions, greatly appreciated! However, I actually found a fix to my problem by going to iphoto, resizing and then choosing the size to print which was where my problem was....I could resize, but when I used other programs, I couldn't find a way to print the new resized dimensions that were saved.
