I'm a pc guy, this is my first mac so I need all the help I can get, hehe
someone gave me a G3 and an osx 10.4 disc (tiger I believe it's called?) I installed osx without a hitch, it boots, plays the welcome video (with like 20 languages saying welcome) then I get a blue screen with a mouse cursor, then the cursor dissapears and it plays the video again... rinse and repeat.

I've let it play 3-4 times and it just keeps looping, from my understanding there should be setup questions to answer after the video, I'm not getting these at all, just the video looping.

any ideas? I know nothing of macs, I would appreciate some help.

A G3 is an OLDER Mac to run Tiger on as it might be "unsupported". However there is an application that can run (you will need another Mac to put it on) called XPOSTFACTO. This will help your "unsupported" Mac to run Tiger.

you don't need a 2nd mac to run Xpostfacto. I know I'm runing 10.4.6 on my 1998 G3 233 Mhz 512 MB of RAM PowerBook. What you will need to do is get your hands on a copy of OS 9 then reparton your drive in 2. The old stuff of haveing to have the OS X side being 7.5 GB big is gone as of Xpostfacto 4.
Then once you have OS 9 running then go ahead and install your copy OS X to the 2nd part of the hard drive. makeing shear that you have the OS 9 side set as your helper disk for OS X. If you need any more help with getting OS X up and runing with Xpostfact just PM me or post here or you can email me at camgangrel@gmail.com.nospam

I very much appreciate the help and info, I posted the same question on the apple.com forums a couple days ago and haven't gotten a single reply, so you guys rock and this is where I think I'll be spending my time for sure.

as for my problem, while I was waiting on things, I decided to try and reinstall and see what happened... I did a custom install and unchecked everything (sept the core files which you can't, duh) and it worked! the video finished, asked me the questions and I now have osx running

yay! one small step for man, one giant leap for a pc user hehe

again I appreciate the fast responses and the friendly help
