Ok here is my situation. I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5. I am also running VMWare Fusion with Windows XP loaded on a virtual machine. My work environment consists of two windows based computers on a small wireless network, and a printer hooked to a linksys print server.
Now both the other computers are set up to print to the printer via IP via LPR and it works just fine. I as well have successfully set up my virtual machine to print in windows the same way, and it works just fine... However when I try to set up a printer on the mac side it simply will not work. It adds fine, and says that it is connected to the printer, but never prints anything.
The couple things that I don't know about are as follows. I have no LPR option in mac os x only an LPD option. I don't know the difference. I have used the IPP option and the LPD option and nothing seems to work. The other problem that I have is that I just use the generic type for printer due to the fact that I don't know how to configure a driver that I downloaded for the specific printer that I do have. (I don't however think that has anything to do with my problem.)
I hope I have not missed anything, and I sure hope someone can help. I have searched all over to try to figure out why it wouldn't be working, and I just can't figure it out.
Thanks in advance
