Need to burn DVD's

Here is my problem I have recently purchased a DVD burner for my PC (it was also before I bought my first mac) anyways I love iMovie and I need a software that will convert the .mov files to a .mpeg so that I can transfer them over. It doesnt matter if it is for osx or windows. Also if it was possible I would love to just chnage my dvd burner into an external firewire one. I know they made usb ones for CDRW drives, but I havent been able to find one for firewire. Any help would be appreciated.

There are tons of utilities out there to convert mov to mpeg. Try a search for mov2mpeg or something like that. Also, can't iMovie export to VCD/mpeg?

For your Mac, get Toast Titanium (now at V 5.2) which will work with most external DVD burners. OWC (www.macsales.com) has the Pioneer 104 in a Firewire case. I have an Ikebana branded Ricoh MP5125A FW external DVD+RW/+R drive which works fine with Toast along with my internal Superdrive.
