I bought a macbook in 2007. It is running os x 10.4.11. I recently got the new ipod touch and need to download itunes 10. However, it says i need os x 10.5 or later. What upgrade do i need to buy and will the upgrade work on my computer? Someone recommended snow leopard. Any help would be appreciated.

Since you are using an intel Mac then just get the cheap 10.6 Retail disk. Then get an External and clone your hard drive. Then do a clean install and once you get the install finished and did all the software updates. Then in the updated 10.6.6 navigate to the application /Applications/Utilities/Migration Assistant. Then use this program to import your contacts, email, music, videos.

Once you have all the data back and are happy with everything, you can then do a new clone of your hard drive and then you will have a bootable backup. Then you can setup a weekly or daily schedule in Carbon Copy Cloner (which is free).

This whole clean install is pretty easy as long as you backup your current OS X setup to an external. Good Luck.
