Netboot to capture image

First, if this is an easy question, I'm sorry, new to OS X deployment.

I currently use the "Clone" approach to capture the image I've built, then transfer it to the xserve, which requires booting to a second HD to capture, could I build a NetBoot image that is has the server tools needed. so that I can just reboot the machine I want to image (boot to network) and then capture the local drive, and have it saved to the server? In case I'm unclear this is what I would like to do

Build an image on a test mac
boot to network (Netboot)
create dmg from local drive
run system image creator
save netrestore to xserve dir

If this is possible would I want to run netboot diskless or not?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Rock!
This worked, I just tried it. I built a very small os x image that has server tools and that's about it. made it a diskless netboot image, I'm then able to boot to that and capture the local drive, saving it to a share on the server. The only downside is it's significantly slower. but that could be do to the fact that the xserve is across campus so ymmv.
