Netbooting - without osx server

mach-o mach-o man
Anyone want to try this?
Here are some links I found while looking it up:
http://mike.passwall.com/macnc/
http://frank.gwc.org.uk/~ali/nb/

I really think this should be pretty easy to do, especially under Mac OS X Workstation. I guess all we need is dhcpd and we'll be ready.

ps: I'd do it but all my macs are too old to net boot (except my g4, but I doubt it would boot neatly off a g3 266...)

I read over those links and was simply inspired. Any takers?

From my brief, perfunctory reading of the pages you linked to, my impression was that only classic Mac OS can be netbooted - you can't have the client machines boot into OS X.

This would make the whole thing pretty much pointless for me, really. Of course, I only have the one computer, so it's all dreaming anyhow...
