NetInfo Manager hosed

scruffy

Notorious Olive Counter
For some reason, the NetInfo Manager refuses to start under most conditions.

Double clicking the app, it does a few bounces, than vanishes.

From a commandline, typing:

NetInfo\ Manager.app/Contents/MacOS/NetInfo\ Manager

does the same as above, with the somewhat unuseful output:

Segmentation fault

Typing:

sudo NetInfo\ Manager.app/Contents/MacOS/NetInfo\ Manager

finally starts it up alright, with this output on standard error:

Apr 28 12:07:22 NetInfo Manager[26975] Could not find image named `delete'.
Apr 28 12:07:23 NetInfo Manager[26975] Warning: TIFF image with unknown extra samples assumed to have unassociated alpha. RGB values have been premultiplied

I checked that the setuid bit is on for the NetInfo Manager executable, and it is alright. For the moment, any NetInfo work I do I do with niutil at the commandline, but this is supposed to be a Mac, right?

Mysterious... Anyone else having similar problems? Ideas? Oh, the Disk Utility is also similarly hosed, but I can't even get that to start with sudo.
