Netscape 7.1, no preferences

Hi. I'm an old-time Mac guy (used to fix em for a living, long long ago, like in the 8.0 era) but I'm new to OSX. I downloaded Netscape 7.1 this morning and couldn't figure out how to change my home page. At first I thought perhaps it was simply a conspiracy to ensure that apple.netscape.com was always my homepage, but it soon dawned on me that I also couldn't change my mail alert sound or anything else. Every help file I see says I just click Edit and scroll down to Preferences. Well, no kidding. I've got Netscape 7.1 on my other Mac, running 9.2, and that's how I'd do it there. But on this one, under OSX, there's no "Preferences" in the Edit menu, nor in any other menu. I even downloaded and reinstalled. What gives? Dare I try 7.0 or something?

Many thanks
Rob

Strange!
I have Netscape 7.1 and am running OS 10.3.4 and have no problem setting any of the preferences you mentioned...I suspect you're missing something but I couldn't suggest what...I'm not that knowledgeable.

Just a thought...
The correct Preferences window is available under the Netscape Menu...not under the Edit Menu.

The preferences is in the Netscape menu. Look at the menu - from the far left you have the blue apple, then Netscape. Click on Netscape and the preferences are there.

Or just use Apple and , (comma) keys.

Thank you so much! I'm still getting used to OSX and for a while I kept hitting that menu when I wanted File, so in the last couple of days I've kind of ignored that menu. Thanks very much!
