Network prefs crashing

Every time I try to open up the network preferences settings in the control panel it crashes. I was just wondering where the text file would be to manually change my tcp/ip settings.

First thing I'd do is restart from the CD and choose Disk Utilities and run Disk First Aid.

Next created a new user with a different short user name. This will give you a clean set of user preferences.

Try opening your network preferences. If it opens, they your network prefs for your original user were corrupt.
