Network Speed...

Okay, when starting up in 9 and running HL client, I can get up to 500-600k from a particular server. However, when booting up in X and running HL client (classic) I get less than 100k. Does anybody know why this is? Does anybody have fix its? Thanks in advance.

How's your network settings? I found that X defaults to grabbing all its initial network settings off of a DHCP server.

If you define things like your default gateway and default DNS servers, I found performance to go up a bit.

It may be that the Classic environment is the problem. I have noticed that my overall network speed is up. I can download faster from the web and transfer files from other networked computers faster. You may have to wait for the carbon version of hotline to become usable.
