Hi all,

I think that my drive is failing, it keeps giving me errors when I'm trying to run the disk utility :(. I've been looking at previous posts and it seems that my drive is sick...

Its a 40GB IBM Travelstar, any recommendations? Will any 2.5" disk do or does it need to have some type of connection?

Thanks.

Do you hear any repetitive clicking sounds eminating from the hard drive? Not the normal thrashing sounds that the hard drives make, but a steady sound as though it's getting stuck...something akin to a broken record. If so, then the drive is physically failing on you. If you are still able to get to the Finder desktop, backup everything ASAP to anything you can find. You will also need to replace the hard drive since that one is likely shot.

If this PowerBook was recently purchased, I recommend taking it to the Apple Store or contacting Apple about a replacement since it would still be under warranty.

Titanium - not recently purchased :(

What errors are you getting with Disk Utility?
