New 3 button+ trackball needed.. Suggestions?

It all started at 3......
Hey guys,

I'm looking to purchase a new trackball mouse. It must have three buttons plus so I can use it with Maya and Shake and work on Mac OSX. It needs to be VERY comfortable as I suffer badly from fibromyalgia and get a lot of pains in my hands and thumb from this. For the past few years I've been using the Kensington Turboball which has worked pretty well for me but it has finally decided to bite the dust... R.I.P.

Any good suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thank you in advance.

Ian

I recommend the Microsoft Intellimouse. Mine is the same as the picture below, on it hasn't got those side buttons. It's by far the most comfortable mouse I've ever used, as it fits in the palm of my hand perfectly.

Thanks for the response Veljo... I'm actual looking for a mouse with a trackball as I find these much more comfortable. Cheers!

Thanks guys, they both look pretty good. Does the Microsoft Trackball Explorer work with Mac OSX? I was looking at the website and it only stated Windows operating systems in the specs.

Thanks.

Mine works just fine -- of course, I don't use mouse software to assign funky keystroke combinations like quadruple-clicking or Command-Option-1-P to the 4th and 5th buttons (some feel this is a requirement to be able to do this), but instead use the extra buttons to control Exposé (which is supported natively without installing extra mouse software in OS X).

Left click, right click, scroll wheel -- that's all I need.

Some 3rd party software, like USBOverdrive, can help put those extra buttons to good use, though.

The Macally of course is made for Mac and all its buttons are fully programable without any need for third party software. And at only $15, it is five dollars cheaper than USB Overdrive alone.
