New drive = spinning ball

I just installed a second harddrive to my G4 MDD to use in my pro tools setup. The drive itself works flawlessly. Reformated in the computer with 2 partitions.
The problem I have is that eversince I installed the extra harddisk finder often freezes for a couple of seconds showing the spinning ball and does it ever so often. This was not the case before the extra drive.
The drive is installed in the same bay as the system drive.

Hope someone have a clue of whats going on. I have of course tried to repair permissions....

Check the drive jumpers. Usually the boot drive is set as Master, and the other drives need to be set as Slave or depending Cable Select.

They are set to master and slave, so that shouldn't be the problem.....

The Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors) and education model of Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver 2002) computers work with ATA and ATAPI internal storage devices that are set for cable select mode.

Sorry for not getting back to this thread. But I tried the cable select option and it works as predicted.
