new fanless snowwhite iMac (crt)

do any of the macs have fans? I don't know. I figure th Xserve should, and the Powermacs probably do, I don't think LCD iMacs do, and same with iBooks. But i'm just making this up, can anyone fill me in?
 
All Tray loading Imacs (original series A-D)have a cooling fan. All Slot loading Imacs are fanless. All that Loading stuff refers to the CD drive. All PowerMacs have at least a power supply fan. the X-Serve has lots of fans (really noisy, so i've heard.)
 
what about the LCD iMacs? mine is very quiet, so I'm guessing there's no fan. am I right? Although when I feel the top of the computer where all the holes are there is a steady flowing of air...
 
I dont know about the new lcd iMacs, but the slot loading iMacs had no fan, it was one of the selling points... same with the cube...the powermacs have a fan (and a noisy one at that) the ibooks, and powerbooks have a fan but only run when needed.
 
XAQ, if you look closely into the holes, you will see a grey 'wisp' where the fan is moving. Alternitively, turn it off, and watch in the holes when you turn it on.

I can PROMISE you that the LCD iMac has a fan ;) I am looking at mine now ;) But it IS very quiet. It draws air from the holes at the base, and blows air out the top.
 
I had that set as my background for a while :)
