New Hard Drive - Can't Install OS

Hi guys,

I just replaced the hard drive in my macbook and I want to re-install Tiger on the new drive. When i insert the install disc and hold option on startup, the cursor appears but no boot options. When i hold c, nothing happens at all.
When i put the old hdd back in, both the hdd and the install disc appear as boot options, but nothing with the new drive.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Most new hard drives are formatted for windows (NTFS). So when you boot with the install disk re-format the disk Mac OS Extended (Journaled) first then install.

Unfortunately I can't boot with the install disc, as it isn't recognised. Pressing option, c or d on startup does nothing, it just sits idle. I'm not sure what to do.

... I can't boot with the install disc, ...
Are you trying to boot the System Restore disc that came with your MacBook, or are you trying to boot a retail MacOS X 10.4 disc? If you are trying the latter, then stop. You should be able to boot from a retail MacOS X 10.5 disc. The only other disc that will boot your computer is the System Restore disc that shipped with your computer.
