New iMac has a fan?

Does anyone know of the new iMac has a fan for cooling its 800MHz G4? Or is it convection cooled like the Cube?

i'm pretty sure there's no fan... there are a lot of holes in the case for ventilation at the top and around the bottom...

I'll be able to tell you for sure tomorrow when I see one in person. :) But I agree with blingbling -- I'm pretty sure there's no fan.

This bugs me as well. I just searched the site and there is NO word that is has no fan...so I think it has one! After all, you have to cool a G4 800 AND a GeForce 2 MX! In the old model, the CRT monitor created enough heat to "soak" the air away from the CPU, creating a constant air movement which kinda "cooled" the processor or at least prevented the air around it from heating up more and more. The same principle was used in the Cube with the low end Graphics boards. But I doubt that the new iMac has no fan. Cooling a G4 800, SDRAM, the graphics board and a superdrive just by some air circulation? That would be a true miracle!

Read that there is a fan in the new iMac, article said that Apple tried to keep design noise less than the hard drive. Have to hear that to believe it.

Uh... I think that article was written with too little coffee, as it mentioned that MacOS X would become a free download on Apple's site, so I am a little suspect about the article as a whole, but assume there is a fan that runs at 25 dB.

i think giving osx away at this stage of the game makes sense. because everyone says apple makes money on its hardware, not software, letting people with older mac-chines get a taste of osx should only whet their appetites for a new mac-chine that will really do it justice. especially the original imac owners who should be prime to upgrade about now. there are now enough apps to make osx viable and a larger userbase would certainly spur some of the turtles to get moving on their osx versions. this would also help spread the word about osx to pc users, some of whom might see the light and realize they can pc by day and mac at nite with near seemless compatibilty. of course explaing that there isn't a floppy drive will baffle them still. explaining that burning a quick cd is just as easy, nearly as cheap and much more reliable and safe will require careful wording.

and maybe i just drink too much coffeee too:D

I have the revision B iMac and sure I'm drooling over a new computer but os X works great with what I have (266 mhz). It's an interesting concept to hand out osX (excpet for the os part, sounds like the last rave I went to) I think it would take a big leap of faith on apple's part but it might work very well. What does software cost once its made? Maybe I've been playing the board game Risk too much lately but some times you have to give a little, take a little, let your poor hear break a little.... It would surely boost market share and I know lots of linux people who would get past the comercial aspect of OS X implementation of unix.

When pigs fly right? in a perfect world.....
