New iPod Ad!!

Looks like a good ad to me. Apple needs to sell those babies to computer illiterate people, too. The nerds already have them. Now tell them that it's about the SOUND. :)

If it's a true Apple ad, I think it's good.

i believe i saw that in my latest mac world or a time or something

what they need to do, not only sell it to "normal folk" but also drop the price a little... alot more people would buy it for 200 or even 250 instead of 300 IMHO

it was in the latest macworld, i was somewhat surprised by the color but i like it a lot

That ad, and another similar ad, have ran in the last two issues of Entertainment Weekly (which always has a lot of Mac ads anyway).

There was a purple one with a shilouetted man in my newsweek magazine about a week ago - I agree. It's a cool ad. Think they come out for iMac's/other apple hardware?
What about iTMS?

I like it, but look at the iPod itself. It's a Gen2 and not a new model. Would Apple not have a new iPod in the pic?

Thats the first thing I thought myself when I looked at the ad. Infact, I dont even see the Gen2 (or 1) clicker buttons around the wheel. It looks like a Gen3 where someone forgot to add the buttons above... so to that extent it looks fan-made.

However,

It does seem to go hand in hand with LoopRumor's recent coments:
Apple has traditionally had conservative ads across all mediums with white backgrounds and catchy headlines. The latest information we learned is that Apple is set to introduce a new series of image ads. Flashier, hot colored backgrounds and the subject of the advertisement is said to be elated using their Apple product. The print campaign will simply state which product is being highlighted in the headline, such as "iPod."

Wierd.

1) how much cheaper can an iPod get? i think US prices are quite reasonable. lower prices = worse manufacturin quality. my iPod Gen1 fell off the tredmill when i was runnin at the gym twice, and when i picked it up both times the music was still playin. and i can tell u fall was really bad. if that was any other mp3 player or cd player it would have been destroyed.

2)that is a Gen3 iPod (since its corners are all curved) and the fact that it does have any buttons on it is just a matter of graphics design (otherwise that chic wouldnt have been all black) :)

i also think that apple really wanted to just get the look of an iPod so people recognize it, most low-end users will not be able to tell the difference btw gen2 and 3, but they will agree that it is beautiful ;)

It's art, people. The average Joe isn't going to care which generation of iPod is featured in the ad, they'll just recognize the box, screen and wheel when they see it in the store. Notice how the headphones are all white as well; it's an illustration.

I like this ad. The girl looks a little like (the shape of) my cousin, who was in an IBM ad (if any of you saw the Dayzie.com ad). I hope it does well.

I know for a fact that this ad ran in newsweek, and I saw it there about three days before looprumors printed their story. They probably just had someone write in claiming to have seen the ad, and not known it had already been run.

looks chic.

i suppose buymusic.com isn't too happy right now. the very thought of having to re-do their ads must not be a good one.

"dammit.. someone get illustrator running!! steve jobs is killing us!"

:)

Very nice ads, the beauty of simplicity. The are branding the form, because iPods are becoming a ever more noticeable product.

iPod's own... Somewhere I saw an article that apple is gaining some real hard street credit with high schoolers...
I am so far ahead of the fashion curve ;^)

I know what you mean, I see some kids walking around with Apple t-shirts on (Im in High School FYI). It took me by great suprise.
