Does the person's computer require USB 2.0? Is the new Mini backwards compatible with USB 1?

I've heard that you can use the new stuff on a mac with 10.3.X with low speed USB... Don't know about PC. Worst case scenario, you have to buy a card for 20 bucks, so not all is lost.

Okay, I am getting this as a gift to a person who has a HP laptop. I will have to get the specs off the HP to see. Thanxs
