new iPod?

Snaffle

Hello! I've been wanting to get myself a new iPod, needing to upgrade from my 4th gen. I'm wondering if I should wait and see if Apple is putting out a new iPod any time soon? Or should I just go out and buy one now? Does anyone have any infomation on this?

Thanks in advance!

- Eric

It's been almost a year since the 5G iPod was released. I think it would be one of the _worst_ times to buy one now. New ones are probably right around the corner.

I agree, if I was you I would wait until the new one comes, with its nice 3.5'' widescreen LCD, and the new wheel, which is digital. I hope Apple sends good gloves for you to use and not scrach the screen. Those iPods are easily scrached. Hate that. For a 150$-400$ MP3 Player Apple can't even give us a decent Invisible Case to protect the iPod. lol :)

Lucky I got my iPod Video for free. ;)

Wasn't the existing wheel digital? In both senses of the word?

I've always thought the whole "iPods get scratched" thing was blown out of all proportion, and that its something like half-a-percent of iPod owners surveyed complained of scratches. Still, I do know from my sources inside Apple that they are testing different materials to try and get rid of this "iPods scratch" talk once and for all. I wonder if that means we'll see an 'iPod Heavy Metal Edition"?

I dont know, I dont think so because the existing wheel is not ON the screen. What I meant to say is that the new iPod's wheel is going to be digital, on the screen, so you can touch the screen and see a digital wheel on it, check this picture--->

Well, I am glad they want a better material, the other iPod minis where made of metal, I think, I'm not sure, and they didnt scrash easily. You should see how new mt cellphone looks like.

Lol. Wouldnt be a bad idea, like a new iPod video Metallica Edition.

More images are available here: (please consider this as rumours and might not be true) But lets hope anyway it is true :)

Those are artist renderings, photo-shopped images, nothing has actually came out of Apple.

I am currently listening (and watching) an iPod Video Black 60GB,I have had this for 9 months now and I think this is the best Portable media device I have ever owned,The battery is still very long the quality is fantastic, But the battery just fits a film in when playing video (it only lasts 2Hrs) but I tend to have my iPod plugged in while watching video all the Game-Boys broke, Sony mini disk sucked.
The iPod video rules I have seen a white one as well as my black one and the screen is not as visible, although the reflections dont tend to show up as much on the white ipod.

I would recommend waiting for the next iPod. I have heard rumors that their will be an iPod for christmas.

I think apple will come up with a better design than that, that looks like a Sony product or Alien-ware and you can see that that has been "photoshopped" relay badly. Who wastes their time on "photoshopping" an iPod, Weird people.

Sony or Alien-ware? If it's photoshopped, it certainly looks like someone took an iPod 5G to start with to me... If you think about how many options Apple'd have if practically the whole top would be the screen, I'd say that's pretty as Apple as a designer could get. ;) (Other than making the frame even thinner, that is...)

Yea, ive seen those photoshopped images around the web. I think i'm going to wait until the "new" iPod comes around. Thanks guys!
