Im a new Mac convert...I just bought a new IMac G5.

I have an old Windows 98PC that has a wireless internet connection...
Now is there any way i can get my Mac connected to the PC using my built in Airport card.(The main idea is to use the internet and not to share files or peripherals)
Or any alternatives on getting my Mac to get connected to the net.

If you run the Airport Setup Utility you should see your router and make your internet connection through that.

I tried that...but when i run the airport assistant it does not detect any networks.

Let me be more clear.

The PC here is a P-III one with a Sagem 800-840 wireless modem(USB). The ISP is Tiscali. My system is an IMac G5 with Airport Express card built in and all....I tried all that is said in the user manual but it wudnt just detect the network.....Now excuse me but im not very good with this but do i need to buy a router...

Thanks in advance for all assistance.

I think the part we're confused about is the "wireless modem." Never heard of that - without it being a router, too. Can you tell us the brand/model?

The problem is that the Sagem 800 or 840 aren't wireless!! Either will only support one computer. USB connection to the computer at one end and to the phone socket at the other.

You need a wireless router. This will probably be one with ethernet connections, so you will need different cabling too. The router could be combined with a modem or use a separate ethernet modem ( the Sagem USB one won't fit).
