Is there something, other than lacking os9 drivers on my hard drive, that would prevent me from installing OS9 on my new powerbook?

Note that I can run classic. I want to run OS9, not classic, so that I can play a game that doesn't work in classic (tombraider trilogy (confirmed with the company that it can't be run without problems in classic)).

Your new PowerBook will not boot into OS 9. Other than using Classic, there is no workaround. There is nothing you can do with the hard drive, (other than removing it and installing in a system that WILL boot into OS 9. The logic board no longer supports booting into OS 9. No luck today...:)

OS 9 is old, deprecated, gone. Dead. There's the zombie version (Classic) you have already found and revived, but that's it. DeltaMac's right. No-go. The only way of booting OS 9 as the main operating system on a PowerBook is using an old PowerBook that still has support for OS 9.
