Almost ordered newie today but "the lady on tele" said "oooo did you know you are ordering the old version w/ the 1.83 gig processor and not the new version w/ the 1.9 gig processor?" Beyond that she was pretty cluesless. After a bit of grilling she finally came up w/ the info that the new one was not yet available (couple months), and she had no idea of price difference if any...

Anyone know if they are doing this to fix bugs or merely because they can? Any other info, tips, etc?

Many thanks

The only new iMac I know of is the Intel Core Duo ones that were released in January. What was just released was the Mac mini with Intel Core Duo or Solo processors (and crappy Intel GMA950 video :().

oops--type in haste, repent at leisure

sorry: imac w/ intell chip was what I almost bought when I was sketchily informed that a new processor was soon to come out.

well the "Yonah" or Core Duo is a 32-bit chip, the "Merom" i believe its called is a 64-bit chip based on the "Yonah" if its the same name...who knows

That along with the Merom, Conroe and Woodcrest (all 64bit, 65-Nanometer chips will be out around the WWDC)
