New to Mac, Few questions regarding OX 9 and OS X and more.

I recently got a G3 iMac it's a 350mhz machine, 7gb HD, and ATI video.
It was running Os (9.0.1)

I installed 256 MB ram in it. Still working fine.

I also use an RCA lyra and it was detecting as a 20gb drive and working fine. I could read and write to it;s content.

Then I messed it up.

I Formatted the drive and installed os 10.3 or 4

It worked well.

I then installed 9.2.2 as it was needed for some of my daughters games.

it works well.

The Problem

The lyra no longer recognizes under either OS.

On os 9 the system hangs util I disconnect the USB cable.

On OS X I get a prompt that the disk is not formated and to run the disk utility, which when I do detects the drive as a 20GB ms-dos drive but will not mount it.

I'd like to get it working but it's not a big deal right now.

What's bothering me the most:

When in OS X I cannot start Classic mode. I'm sorry I don't remember the error exactly but it is something to the effect that a localized system folder could not be found to start Classic mode.

The catch which I think might be the issue. Is that I installed OX in english (from a french CD) but OS9 was also installed form a french CD and remained in french ss it cannot be changed like OS X.

I'll try to get the error message tonight.

But if anyone can help with either issue I'd appreciate it.

i think you found your own error. i only understand english so that is all i have ever used, but if X is in english it is probibly expecting the same language for 9 and if that system is french that could be the problem, especially since it says that it cannot find the localized system.

I found steps to "bless" the os 9 folder for OS X to recognize it we'll see if they work.

I was expecting too much out of Mac :) My mother and sister rant and rave about it's ease of use and configuration :) I'm attracted to it's unix side :)

I beleive I found the problem with the Lyra, os 9.0 created a systemvolumesettings folder on the Lyra, I've just deleted it using my windows box and I bet that will resolve the issue as it contained finder settings and all.

I'll let you guys know tomorrow.
As well as a finder.dat in each subfolder.
