A Mac that can boot with 10.2.8 cannot boot to 10.6
It will help a lot if you can describe which Mac you have...
PowerBook
iBook
iMac
eMac
PowerMac G4 (tower), or something else?
if your Mac is running, you can go to the Apple menu/About this Mac - and tell us what it shows for processor, and memory
There's a More Info... button, too. Click that, and tell us what the model identifier is...

Is it white with a dome base bottom and a flat panel screen?
Now we need the Model Identifier or exact Processor model (i.e. PowerPC 7455).

Each model that was released has a different ability when it comes to installing OS versions. It may only handle 10.4 Tiger because of the processor.

Where did you get that version number (33.11)?

The About this Mac window will tell you the processor type and speed:
such as: 500 MHz G3 - or 1.25 GHz G4
What does that show on your Mac?

That iMac G3 can be updated to OS X 10.4.11
You can also add more RAM. There's two slots that can each take up to 512MB, so 1 GB is possible.

Yep 10.4.11 - Tiger.
You should be able to get that at Amazon or Otherworld Computing.
