I have just got a new powerbook.

Simple question really how do I switch the keyboard light on???? I thought it might have been under keyboard in the system prefs, but cannot find it???

Any help would be great.

Thanks

i don't think the 12" comes with a lit keyboard. only the 15 and 17 inch models of powerbook do.

yeah, just checked apple's online store - only versions of the 15" and the 17" come with backlit keyboards.

to answer the question though - if your keyboard had the backlighting feature, it would be automatically handled by the light sensor under ther speaker grates, until you changed the pref in System Preferences\Keyboard & mouse on the Keyboard tab.

12" Models do not come with a backlit keyboard, nor can one be installed. If you had this keyboard, you'd have illustrations on your F8, F9, and F10 keys similar to the ones in the picture below. Sorry for the bad quality... the camera on my phone is really shot.

thats one of the inconviences to having the 12" powerbook but i deal with it. besides when i'm working at night or in the dark the screen gives off enough illumination to light up the keyboard.
But if u still want a light...go and get a USB keyboard light, u can get one for under 15 bucks if u look around
