No aliases in finder window sidebars?

Seems I can't make aliases and put them in the sidebar. If I do they lose their alias name and icon.

I have some folders in the Apache webserver that are named very 'functionally' and I'd like to put them in the sidebar, but the names are so 'functional' I have a hard time telling which is which. Be great if I could rename them somehow, or put aliases (which I could rename) in the sidebar.

Is there a way to do this?

I see what you mean.

How about this? Make a folder (name it ApacheFolders - or whatever), create aliases for the folders you need access to. Rename those aliases to some distinctive names, and move all those aliases to your new AF folder. Paste some really Apache-looking icon on that AF folder. Now, last step, drag the closed folder to your sidebar. And, now you have an icon in your sidebar that links to all your Apache needs at once!
