No cc or gcc on MacOS?

I downloaded info and software to use Latex on my mac.

The page I found said I could use Emacs 21.1 to write Latex pages (http://mac-emacs.sourceforge.net/)

I did d/l Emacs 21.1, applied the MacOS X patch, but when trying to launch the ./configure binary, a message says I have no C compiler under /usr/etc/bin/cc

What should I do? (In fact, I don't want a precompiled emacs! :))

Sam :D

Yes, gcc is in the Developer tools.

I also have emacs installed on my system, but I am not sur eif it came from the developer tools or not. I don't think so, but...

The version of emacs I have is 20.7.1, so that might not be enough. Just thought I'd share. :)

The whole packaging of OS X is flaked out .

It should come like Free BSD with the Operating System on one disk , and the ports on another . I dont like the Developer Tools setup , it doesnt have that Unix feel . I didnt even get a copy of Developers Tools and when I went in to the place I bought the computer they had no idea what OS X really was , there is no handbook either which is needed .

I am a mac addict myself and I use SuSE PPC Linux , Free BSD is a little more trickey but OS X is like a jigsaw puzzle I am finding .
