no chime (chaaaan) on starup

Hi.
I am using a powerbook 1,5Ghz 1,25Gb ram and 10.4.9. osx

a few weeks ago, when i start my mac, the tipical chime (chaaan) does no sound.
The computer works fine, and the system sound is ok, music, other sistem sounds work fine.

Y just reset the pram, rebuild the HD permissions, fsdk....

What happens with my lovely chhaaaaaan?

I have no idea why your mac is doing this.
Try holding Apple+Shift+O+F This will take you to open firmware. Dont panic if fan speeds up. Type "reset-all" and hit enter.
