no destination to install OS X

replace hard drive for my G4 powerbook and install MAC OS X .10.3 but no destination to chose to installing MAC OS X

The Gurus will need specs--what type of HD, what type of install disk, et cetera.

I am assuming in Disk Utility you cannot "see" your HD?

The hard drive might need to be formatted first. Launch Disk Utility once you're booted from the installation disc. There should be an option in the menu once you're at the installation welcome screen (this is usually after you've selected the language).

As I mentioned, you need to use Disk Utility from the installation disc and format it "Mac OS Extended" (aka HFS+). You cannot install Mac OS X on a drive formatted NTFS, FAT32, or anything else that's not HFS+. If it can see the drive in Disk Utility, then have Disk Utility format the drive appropriately. Once that's done, you should be able to install OS X on this hard drive in your PowerBook G4.
