No Ftp Uploading? Why? Help!

Hi,

I'm using either Trasnmit or Dreamweaver for uploading files to various web servers as I have always done.

For some reason, I keep getting the message server not responding, I've tried all the servers I've connected to on numerous occassions but still I get the same problem.

The only thing that has changed is that I have recenently upgraded my 17" powerbook to a 1.33 model, and I purchased it from America. Installed panther International English.

I've tried uploading via my modem just in case it's my network. I currently obtain my internet connection via a PC sharing it's internet access, again, I've done this for over a year without any probs. Can anyone shed any light? I just can't work this one out.

When you say "I have recenently upgraded my 17" powerbook to a 1.33 model" what does that mean? Did you upgrade the OS?
 
And it stopped working around then? I'd say that's a pretty major change... :)
Did the OS version change when you got the new computer?
 
So it didn't work via the modem either? Check the OS X firewall under System Preferences --> Sharing and see if it's on.
 
Hi, ok, I just switched off the firewall and it works!!

It says to click on the USE PASSIVE FTP, which I have done but it won't work still.
