no fun with splitscreen

hi there,

i use a, lets say a bit old screen, connected to my powerbook in splitscreen mode, but the monitorcontrolpanel doesn't give me a chance to configure the screens frequency and so it is pretty flickering. are there another possibilities to set it up?

First we're gonna need more information:

-What powerbook model is it exactly? How fast, what's the processor, etc...

-What kind of screen is it? (Company, model #, etc if you can get it.)

-Did it used to work before?

-What type of operating system are you currently running on?
 
ok, here it comes.
i use the 12" powerbook g4 867mhz with os 10.2.3 and a 17" no name screen, which is normally connencted to my pc. it works fine, but the refreshrate is lower than running with the pc and osx doesn't give me any possibilities to change this.
