New user of OSX Tiger familiar with unix but cannot get routes set properly in order to access the internet via en1 interface. en0, the onboard ethernet was fried due to lightning so I have a PCI ethernet card in slot D of my G4 400MHz which works fine under OS9.
As far as connections go, the ethernet cable goes to a router which is DSL aware (it does the DSL logging in and provides IPs). The router IP is 192.168.0.1 and the IP the MAC gets is 192.168.0.2 (I have it reserved in the router).
There's some configuration I'm not doing correctly, since simply rebooting in OS9 works fine for internet connectivity.
I tried pinging the router in OSX and get something like "no route to host".
I did ensure a green ball status next to the location of choice which is set to use en1. I even moved it to the top and unchecked the en0 interface.
I've also posted to the forum; I hope that's not bad form.
Thanks,
Ken
