No notice when battery is about to die; it just shuts off

For some reason, my Macbook doesn't give me any notice that the battery is about to die. It just shuts off. And it shuts off when it says there is at least 20 min. left. The previous owner said he did have the battery replaced on account of the recall, but not sure if that's true based on what's happening.
 
I spoke to AppleCare and they said I needed to replace my battery. So I did (under warranty). Works great now!

It now has a Cycle count of 2. So, that is how many times I have charged it? How may cycle counts is considered high?
