No Sound using MacOSX Dutch on a Imac

I have installed OSX 10.0.3 but still no sound when I want to use my external speakers. When I contact these speakers on the Headphone extension it works. I am using a Imac rev D. Did I do something wrong. On OS9.1 no problemos.
