I thought I could upgrade my safari for panther--to 3.1--
a message states I cannot update ---but somehow I have lost my original Safari all together--I have almost everything saved on Safari--On the other hand it shut off on me while I was using it.

ALSO ---I would like to upgrade to osx 10.4 or to Leopard--
but how do I do that without buying a new computer???
I have a G3 power pc - which I know is old but I cannot
afford a new computer--anthing I can do?

The latest version of Safari available for Panther is 1.3. You can download 1.3.1 here and then the 1.3.2 updater here.

10.4 will run G3s, but it is only officially supported on systems with built-in FireWire. If you're not sure whether your system has FireWire, check your specs in System Profiler (in /Applications/Utilities). You'd need to find a used copy of the 10.4 retail discs, since Apple no longer sells them. 10.5 is not supported on G3s.
