numeric keyboard failure

Help!! My numeric part of my Mac USB keyboard won't work in OS 10.5.1. It does work in OS 9.2.2. I haven't added anything new other than the Apple Works update 6.2.7

System G4 466mhz, 512 ram,
 
Per my last post: The numeric pad was working fine before. I switched keyboards with my wife (same) and hers doesn't work here either
 
This happned to my roommate..

right now, if you hold down a number on the keypad it moves your cursor around the screen, right? Go ahead. try it now. your arrow moves, eh?

You might want to try this. Open "System Preferences" from the Apple menu, and click on "Universal Access". then clikc the "mouse tab" and turn off Mouse Keys. Because, when Mouse Keys is activated, your keypad acts like a mouse... with 7,8,9,4,6,1,2, and 3 moving the arrow, while 5 does teh mouse "click"
