Office 2004 for Mac problems

Hello All,
So I've had Leopard for a few weeks and everything was working fine at first. Then all of a sudden I started to get problems with opening up Office 2004 programs. As of now (I just downloaded the EFI Firmware Update 1.1), I can't even open files on Word or Excel without it freezing completely and making me force quit it. The weird thing is that Powerpoint works fine and also that on the "Project Gallery-New" preview page, if I just press cancel and open a recent file on Word, it works fine. Any ideas on if this update affects Office?

A firmware will have absolutely no effect at all on your software. You might run Disk First Aid in Disk Utility or File System Check (fsck -fy) from the command line in Single User Mode.
 
My problem was Word immediately crashing when started. It went away after Word was updated to 11.3.8. FYI, the other package versions I have are Excel 11.3.7 and PowerPoint 11.3.5. They all seem OK.
