Office.X applications activating listening ports??

Is this just for piracy detection on the LAN? The ports seem to vary around the 34xx range

Yup, that's them. Also uses port 2222.

Gack! How much do you know about this? Can you give me exact ranges? I have a site license, but I'll block this just on principle.

2222 is constant the 3000 range one changes.

open up Terminal and type this:

sudo ipfw add deny udp from any to any 2222

I am behind a linksys firewall...is those ports already closed for me? I only have port 80,and 21 open. So does that mean the rest of them are closed?
