Office X "Identity Crisis" HELP!

If you have multiple identities set up in Entourage X, you CANNOT switch between them with any other Office X application open. I've been told that this has to do with the "Notifications" and the "background" linking of all the Office apps. Well, that's a sorry state of affairs. I even have "Office Notifications" turned OFF. Does anyone know a way around this craziness?? With all the junk MS has going on in the background, and the power of UNIX, couldn't (shouldn't!!) Entourage somehow just notify the other Office apps that the user ID has changed??? What's the big deal?

What happens is something like this: My wife and I each have an Entourage I.D. (It's much simpler for her to deal with than setting up a different system user for her.) But here's the rub: I check my mail. I write a letter in Word. (I leave these apps open.) My wife wants to check her e-mail. She goes to Entourage and selects "Switch Identity" from the "Entourage" menu. She gets a warning that tells her she has to quit all other Office applications before she can switch. A royal pain, to say the least.

HELP!!!

I suppose you could use a different e-mail client for the different users. Unfortunately this isn't a great solution, because it isn't using Entourage :S

I get the same on my Windows PC when I try to shut down MSN Messenger, because if any Office 2000 app, IE, or anything Microsoft is open, it won't shut down because they're linked.

Oh, I think microsoft's e-mail programs in general are the problem. On this PC I have problems with Outlook 2000. Evil evil evil evil microsoft. I will not even give them the honour of a capital letter :p

I've ditched Entourage, and spent 50 bucks on PowerMail. It's lean, fast, and does everything I need a mail app to do, including being able to set up multiple discreet users.
