I recently installed OS X.2 on a iMac DV and it all went pretty well until I booted the machine again and it all turned green. Everything! I tried to format the disk and reinnstall osx, but all the time it kept on being green. I then formatted the disk again and innstalled os9 and then everything turns orange. What the ***** is going on?

Sounds like a monitor issue. Either your monitor or your video card is going bad. Have you opened the Mac up lately? If you have I would tear it open again and recheck all of the connections and make sure there is no loose wires. I had something similar happen with my 266iMac and fixed it by wiggling the video cable.

Well its not good news, you have a faulty Analog Board on the iMac I work for a Dealer and we see this problem all the time. You will need to send it into a Service Centre.
You can try and open up the iMac and try moving the cables as suggested, this is not as easy as its sounds as you have to strip down the iMac.
