... make a Windows only supported External DVD burner work on Mac OS X? I need to buy an external DVD burner and I was looking at some but none of them say that they are compatable with Mac OS X. The ones that are cost a lot more and are only found online at sites I'm not familiar with. So say I buy an HP external DVD burner that's only supported under windows then install patchburn I'll be able to burn with it using Toast? Thanks for the help!

Don't buy a hp. Rather: Buy an external housing (FW, USB-2 or both) and an internal DVD-writer. I'd choose one that is also used by Apple, i.e. a Panasonic/Matsushita. They're not _that_ expensive. Put the things together and connect to your Mac. If the drive isn't recognised as a "burnable" in the Finder, apply PatchBurn. If it is, don't. Everything fine.

_Some_ hp writers might work, others might not (depending on what drive's inside...).

It works well on iMac G5 (PowerPC) running 10.5.4 and 10.4.11 (says (Yes/Unsupported) under Burn Support (says the same thing on the Intel Macs).

Firmware is F102.

How can I get this to work on Intel iMac/MacBook Pro? It burned one disc correctly the first evening I used it -- when I skipped verification. Verification led to problems.

Have line on Pioneer DVR-K06 internal that I will buy, but hate to waste the bucks I have already invested.

Please assist and thanks in advance for your help!
