I wonder if there is anything else than the 4 lines theme in iTunes 4 visualizer ?

I find it quite boring.

well, it's easy to look at.. but it would be neat to change the colors... it would be neat if it was an image, and we could just change it by throwing another image in the resource folder or something.

oooOOooohhh, you're talking about the visualizer, not the UI theme for the app. I thought you guys were going all Windoze on me and expecting everything to have skins, which is a fad I still don't understand.

As for the visualizers, it should still be pluggable. Poke around, there should be stuff available, there was back in the day when iTunes was new, and even earlier when it was SoundJam MP.

I know I saw some stuff in the developer tools to make your own about a year ago. Look around, there's bound to be some stuff. ... or maybe it's another dead fad. :-/

so perhaps the whole mp3 visualizations thing is a dead fad. Who knew? All of the stuff I found is circa 2001. Score 1 Apple for actually dropping a feature rather than succumbing to the senseless bloat that everyone else seems to embrace.

Bummer for you guys though, I guess. I think I'll trip out to the screen effects though. That flurry thing is really mesmerizing.

Im not sure if the default Visualizer has changed since iTunes 3, but either way, the Visual plugins that worked with 3, still work with 4.

search for:

- Arkaos Visualiser
- iGoom
- Shortcut 74 (to view QT-movies in iTunes, without sound)

3 visualisers for iTunes (also works with iTunes 4)

Speaking of which.. Well. sort of. Anyone know of a plugin to show Video clips of music that is playing? I guess Shortcut 74 could be used for that purpose if it supports scripting..

Arkaos is nice, but not a smooth as the "old" iTunes 3 visualizer... I just want the old visualizer back !

chevy,

I'm not sure what you mean. On my machine, iTunes 4 has the "old" iTunes 3 visualizer.

By the way, I think the iTunes visualizer is amazing. You can change the design and colors manually by pressing the q/w, a/s, and z/x keys.

Yeah, i didn't knew that I could do it manually... that's very nice... how do i set it to automatic/random again ?
