Original SuperDrive burns at 2x?

I thought that even with that firmware upgrade the original SuperDrive would only burn at 1x. I just burned the first DVD-R since I upgraded the firmware and burned 2.5 gigs with Toast in 15 minutes. Isn't that about 2x speed? This drive is the DVR-103, revision 1.90.

Yes, it will burn at 2X speed, but finding 2X media compatible with the 103 is not easy. I bought some 2X blanks recently only to find it would only burn at 1X on my Apple Superdrive. When buying media, make sure that it states which drives it is compatible with.

It would appear so, as I have also burned at 2X with different media than that which I now have.
