OS 10.4.6 prints in some programs,crashes in others

I can print from Safari, TextEdit and preview, but when I try to print in any Office Program, from Acrobat or from FileMaker the program crashes.
This is a new problem, no new upgrades, and no previous print problems. I have been through every suggestion on the Apple site, Microsoft and the ones I found here, with the exception of a clean install.
Help! Any suggestions.

It sounds like you may have to do a reinstall of of just of the System. Archive reistall of the system. It will not mass with your user files.

Thanks for the help. I re-installed the 10.4.6 updater, but this did not help. Tried to to an install of 10.4 from the supplied DVD's, but the install keeps failing.
 
That sounds as if the disk file system is messed up some how. What need to do is get your hands on a copy of Diskworrior or Techtools Pro. one of thoes two should be able to fix what ever has happened to you disks file system.

By the way I will keep trying to help you fix this with out having to loseing any of your data.
